On November 1, 2025, the federal government’s shutdown will lead to a pause in SNAP benefits for eligible Arizonans.

The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) has confirmed it will be unable to distribute Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) benefits for November unless federal funding is restored.

Nearly 900,000 Arizonans rely on SNAP each month—including families with children, seniors and veterans.

 There is a lot of news on this topic and whether or not the benefits can be halted.  The short story is this...people are food insecure now, and will be until the benefits are fully restored and distributed to people.  This interim timeframe is critical to meeting needs, and organizations  are currently seeing the increased volumes of people coming to them for supplemental food.
